A tough 0-3 week came for the Greene County Rams softball team ahead of the final few regular season games, putting the team 4-17 overall.
Monday, June 24, was an 8-2 at home loss to Saydel for the Rams after making a fourth inning rally to lead 2-1 going into the fifth, but letting go of the lead when Saydel put four across home plate. There were three Ram hits, all singles, with two knocked by Kaycee Pittman and one from Alivya Smith. Bellah Johnson found first after being hit by a pitch and five Rams struck out.
There were four errors committed by the Rams, with 21 putouts and 10 assists on 35 total chances. Daniele Madsen and Alaina Heard gave up 11 hits with three walks, two hit batters and five strikeouts.
On Tuesday, Greene County hosted Southeast Valley with a 12-4 win to the Jaguars after a close game until the Southeast Valley big fifth inning, putting five runs on the scoreboard. The six Ram hits included four singles as well as a double each from Sara Morlan and Madsen. Five Rams drew walks, four struck out. Greene County saw four errors on 31 total chances. Heard allowed 15 hits and walked two, hit one batter and struck out five.
The team took a road trip to Perry Wednesday, June 26, falling 11-1. All four Ram hits were singles, with one each from Kokenge, Pittman, Johnson and Addison Gannon. Smith drew a walk and four Rams struck out. On the field, the team saw 14 putouts and two errors on 21 total chances with Madsen and Heard giving up 10 hits, four walks, one hit batter and one strikeout.
The Rams team hosted Denison-Schleswig July 1 for a 9-2 loss. A Tuesday game at Manson against Manson-Northwest Webster was rained out Tuesday and will not be rescheduled. The Rams host the fourth-ranked St Edmond Gaels Wednesday.
The Rams will start Class 3A Region 2 play Thursday, July 11, in Monroe against the 20-3 Mustangs.
